Flights & Ferry Guide

Your Guide
How to Get to Anguilla.

If you are planning a trip to Anguilla, there are two main ways to get to the island: by flying directly to Anguilla or by flying to St. Maarten and taking the ferry to Anguilla. This guide explains the best way to reach Anguilla and what to do when you arrive.

Flying Directly to Anguilla (AXA)

Anguilla’s airport is Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA), located near The Valley.

This is a small airport with quick immigration and short transfer times, which makes arrival easy and stress free.

Airlines That Fly to Anguilla

Airlines serving Anguilla include:

  • American Airlines from Miami
  • AnguillAir from Baltimore, Boston & Newark
  • Cape Air from San Juan, St. Kitts, Nevis, Tortola and St. Thomas
  • Tradewind Aviation from San Juan
  • Seaborne Airlines from San Juan
  • Sky High Aviation from the Dominican Republic
  • Trans Anguilla (regional flights)

Many international travellers fly to San Juan (Puerto Rico) and then take a short regional flight to Anguilla.

Flying to St. Maarten and Taking the Ferry

Many visitors choose to fly to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in St. Maarten and then take a ferry to Anguilla.

This is often the most common route to Anguilla.

Ferry Options to Anguilla

There are two main ferry routes:

1. Marigot Ferry (French St. Martin to Anguilla)

  • Departure: Marigot
  • Arrival: Blowing Point, Anguilla
  • Travel time: 25 minutes
  • Public ferry service
  • Usually the most affordable option

2. Simpson Bay Ferry (Dutch St. Maarten to Anguilla)

  • Departure: Simpson Bay near the airport
  • Arrival: Blowing Point, Anguilla
  • Travel time: 15 minutes
  • Private ferry services
  • Faster and more convenient from the airport

After arriving at Blowing Point Ferry Terminal, you will go through immigration and customs and then exit the terminal building.

Gumbsie Car Rental can meet you at the ferry terminal when you arrive.

Getting Around Anguilla

Anguilla does not have extensive public transport, and taxis can be expensive, especially for visiting multiple beaches and restaurants.

Many visitors choose to rent a car because:

  • Beaches are located around the island

  • Renting a car gives you flexibility and freedom
  • Driving in Anguilla is on the left-hand side and traffic is generally light
